sittin' on the beach
the island king of love
deep in fijian seas
deep in some blissful dream
where the goddess finally sleeps
in the lap of her lover
subdued in all her rage
and I am aglow with the taste
of the demons driven out
and happily replaced
with the presence of real love
the only one who saves

I want to dance with you
I see a world where people live and die
with grace
the karmic ocean dried up and leave no
trace
I want to dance with you
I see a sky full of the stars that change
our minds
and lead us back to a world we would not
face

the stillness in your eyes
convinces me that I
I don't know a thing
and I been around the world and I've
tasted all the wines
a half a billion times
came sickened to your shores
you show me what this life is for

I want to dance with you
I see a world where people live and die
with grace
the karmic ocean dried up and leave no
trace
I want to dance with you
I see a sky full of the stars that change
our minds
and lead us back to a world we would not
face

in this altered state
full of so much pain and rage
you know we got to find a way to let it go

sittin' on the beach
the island king of love
deep in fijian seas
deep in the heart of it all
where the goddess finally sleeps
after eons of war and lifetimes
she smilin' and free, nothin' left
but a cracking voice and a song, oh lord

I want to dance with you
i see a world where people live and die
with grace
the karmic ocean dried up and leave no
trace
I want to dance with you
i see a sky full of the stars that change
our minds
and lead us back to a world we would not
face
we would not face
we would not face
we would not face
we would not face
we would not face

sittin' on the beach the island king of love deep in fijian seas deep in some blissful dream where the goddess finally sleeps in the lap of her lover subdued in all her rage and I am aglow with the taste of the demons driven out and happily replaced with the presence of real love the only one who saves

I think this part is self-explanatory. Whether he's meditating or simply with a lover, isn't clear to me, but it's obvious that he is completely filled with peace. I think that what he's saying here is that no matter what your belief about God or any other higher power, love is the only thing that saves us from the evils of the world.

I wanna dance with you I see a world where people live and die with grace the karmic ocean dried up and leave no trace

I think this part means that he knows that there are still people in this world that are good, and do good things, but that since there are so many people who cheat us, lie, etc, and since so many bad things happen in the world, we fail to see the good.

I wanna dance with you I see a sky full of the stars that change our minds and lead us back to a world we would not face

To me, this has something to do with astrology. For others, it may have something to do with God or another higher power. Basically, those of us who believe that astrology influences our lives and personalities, will look to the stars for clues about decisions we have to make or things that may happen soon. Those who believe in God tend to look up when talking to him, believing that he's in the sky. Then when we feel that we have our answer, we seem to gain courage to make that difficult choice, and are able to face the "real world" with more courage.

the stillness in your eyes convinces me that I I don't know a thing and I been around the world and I've tasted all the wines a half a billion times came sickened to your shores you show me what this life is for

This is Ed's way of saying that he has respect for this person or being. He's saying that "I know you have more wisdom than I do, and I look up to you, and I am comfortable coming to you for advice or encouragement. You let me know that I have a purpose."

I wanna dance with you I see a world where people live and die with grace the karmic ocean dried up and leave no trace I wanna dance with you I see a sky full of the stars that change our minds and lead us back to a world we would not face

in this altered state full of so much pain and rage you know we got to find a way to let it go

Again, self-explanatory. He's saying that even though there are bad things happening to us, we cannot allow our negativity to build up.

sittin' on the beach the island king of love deep in fijian seas deep in the heart of it all where the goddess finally sleeps after eons of war and lifetimes she smilin' and free, nothin' left but a cracking voice and a song, oh lord

I think he's saying that after everything is over, or after you let go of all your pain and negativity, you are free and happy and can do anything your heart desires.

I wanna dance with you I see a world where people live and die with grace the karmic ocean dried up and leave no trace I wanna dance with you I see a sky full of the stars that change our minds and lead us back to a world we would not face we would not face we would not face we would not face we would not face we would not face

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.
