No one ever mentioned what David said about this song on the DVD documentary, Disturbed MOL. I guess I have to be the one to say it. David said, "I was watching a special on the Discovery Channel about voices in the head and it inspired me to write a song about thoughts of a psychotic individual that hears voices to tell him to do terrible things to people." Their you have it.
ok, its about voices in his head probably, no intro to the cd, and when he says "let the living die" i think he meant that in a literal sense, as in, he's gonna do some messed up violent shit, it's saying how he has these impulses (voices) to do some crazy shit, and how he has to fight them
A voice inside of his head telling him to kill someone else "someone is gonna die when you listen to me" or himself "insane you're gonna die when you listen to me." Just Kill anything alive "let the living die".
this song reminds me of being manic-depressive. when you so severly manic that you experience psychosis--you hear voices. and man, do they say some freaky shit! sometimes you are compelled to do what they say-which can get you into alot of trouble. so you try to fight them and not listen. sometimes you feel like maybe you need to be strapped down before you hurt yourself or someone else
Punk in drublic.. logically, the intro to the CD thing does seem correct, but then again it could have a double meaning as a lot of songs do.
I love this song, it works on so many levels. It is also the most bugged out song I ever heard, when I used to get high. Getting high is okay for awhile, it helped me deal with stress, but after awhile I think it becomes counterproductive. In the words of Hendrix, peace and happiness!
thats exactly what I thought it meant, about Disturbed telling you that about the craziness of the entire album. Maybe it is about killing yourself but its an amazing song nonetheless.
the world has become a shitty place to be. better off overdosing on drugs and let the living die.
this is actually the intro to the concept of the album......he sayin' that hes gonna talk about some freaky things now that might sound crap but it has the meaning that can kill u.....thats what its all about as it is also the first track in the album
That would explain why the album as a whole seems like utter crap. Seriously, The Sickness is a parent's nightmare that seems to mix hate, violence, sex, profanity and--subliminally--misogyny into a freak show. Thank goodness they changed direction to make Believe afterwards.
