Conflict Lyrics

You are enemy
You are my hated enemy
I am enemy
Number one rated enemy
I'm a labeled enemy
I am your mortal enemy
My actions enemy
Make me your bitter enemy

All the world around enemy
They're tearing up the ground enemy
They're drawn in by the sound
Enemy, enemy, I must eliminate my enemy

Your people enemy
My people's hated enemy
What are you enemy
Though a created enemy
Terminate the enemy
Eradicate the hated enemy
I am an enemy
My very greatest enemy

All the world around enemy
They're tearing up the ground enemy
They're drawn in by the sound
Enemy, enemy, I must eliminate my enemy

You try to tell me that you love life
Then find another way to kill life

Wanting, love life
Needing, kill life
Wanting, love life
Needing, kill your
Enemy

According to Dave Douiman, this song discourages people from looking for an enemy to fight against.

This song is about the inner part in all of us that always wants to have a conflict.

i think that David is talking about getting rid of that part of himself.

the song isn't about him in a conflict with another but with himself.

Song Meaning

I agree. It's an angry song yet its rather insightful. I still believe that Manson probably pulled the wings off butterflies and chewed the tails off small lizards, but sometimes his messed-up self does make some sense.

@FloridaGuy Personally I always thought of this song as an inner conflict too.

This song is about an inner struggle(conflict) between God and the devil. His enemy is inside of himself, which he is fighting with. I can relate to this from when I used ecstacy for a period of time. I was constantly stuggling with an inner demon. At the same time I was using this drug I claimed that I loved life, yet it was killing me. This is how I relate to, what I think is the best line in the song, "You try to tell me that you love life Then find another way to kill life."

The Ecstacy interpretation is fascinating, but I think the song is about war and how retarded it is. Nationalism gets us all fired up against "the enemy" but it's all meaningless. Your nation is the one that claims to love life, yet it is the one inventing new ways to kill life. So, the message isn't that everyone's your enemy, it's that NO ONE is!

Does anyone else find it freaking hilarious that the guy with the name TOOLAPC (two bands that generally speak out against assholes and dipshits) would post an all-caps flame of another member, rather than comment on the song?

Anyway, I wasn't really a Disturbed fan for a while, at least until Believe and Ten Thousand Fists. Now that I have heard this song, it is in my playlist for just rocking out. I can see the good vs evil interpretation, but I have to lean toward the war one.

I think you guys are going way too deep. Not all of Disturbed's songs are political commentary or about spiritual affairs. It's simply about two people who hate each other's guts. This song was meant to be taken at face value.

@The_Knight according to google this is a quote from Dan.

Dan Donegan of the American heavy metal band Disturbed has commented on the conflict in society, saying that it's become a back-and-forth of hatred that's led to friendships falling apart. He said that debating is good because it allows people to educate each other, but that it's now become more like attacking instead.

I think we can all draw our own conclusions about what the songs mean to us, but if your simply asking for the artists explanation Dan says its about how we went from talking to fighting about political beliefs. That is the conflict in question.

this is about war!whether its between God and satan,or if its between to colliding men.........

It could be about how you just can't trust anyone anymore and you just see everyone as your "enemy"

@King Nothing Don't agree, nothing in the song discusses trust issues really.

i agree with king and josh on this one. Its a great song. and you cant trust anyone cuz there your enemy.

I don't really see how this could be applied to God/Satan, but hey, that's just my perspective.I think it's just about general conflict: war, personal, i could even see it applied to a sporting match, but I'm sure it's probably just a lil' bit deeper than that.
