An Ode to No One (Fuck You) Lyrics

I'm never coming back
I'm never giving in
I'll never be the shine in your spit
I disconnect the act
I disconnect the dots
I disconnect the me in me

And you're mistaken
It's you that's faking
Living and breathing and dying too
This message is for anyone who dares
To hear a fool

You can't bring me back
You can't bring me back
'Cause I gave it all back to you

Thru sacred alleys, the living wrecks
Wreak their havoc upon this world
The disenchanted, the romantics
The body and face and soul of you
Is gone down that deep black hole

Destroy the mind
Destroy the body
But you cannot destroy the heart

And you, you make me so I need to disconnect
And you make it so real
I don't need your love to disconnect

To runaround kids in get-go cars
With vaseline afterbirths and neon coughs
Galaxies full of nobodies
Giving us the farewell run-arounds

I took a virgin Mary axe to his sweet baby Jane
Lost my innocence to a no good girl
Scratch my face with anvil hands
And coil my tongue around a bumblebee mouth
And I give it all back to you
I give it all back to you, yeah
I give it all back to you
For you

No way, I don't need it
I don't need your love to disconnect
And you make it so real
I don't need your love to disconnect
No way to disconnect
And you make it so real
I don't need your love to disconnect
No way to disconnect

"The basic thing is just fuck everybody. It's that feeling where no one understands: 'Who the fuck are my friends? Fuck you. Fuck everybody. Fuck everything.' It's just that thought - pure frustration."

-------Billy Corgan

I think this song is about breaking up with someone that hurt you in a very profound way, so you hate them and are saying fuck you to them, everything they are/were.

It's also about the rage it instills in you upon the world from the bitterness of that relationship, which you basically say fuck you to the world itself because your so pissed off from that experience.

And I loved Zeitgeist as well, it was a return to straight up rock n roll angst, and I think people wanted to hate it because there's no James or D'arcy.

You know what's funny. When one idiot says something negative about a song/band/songwriter, and then the next 15 replies are a mix of hatred towards that person. Who cares in the first place? Great music will be great music to those who love it.

i'm pretty sure it's an ode to virgin their former label, which they've openly hated for quite awhile, infact their bass player is in a bnad call the virgins, which supposedly is just to mock the label, and she's damn...................

I love this song, for me it's about breaking up and daring being without them who you don't like anyway. Telling them to "fuck off, I won't let you drain me anymore".

Why aren't anyone commenting this song? It's great!!

pure hopeless nessand acceptance of doom wrapped up into one. I think this song tiies into Tales of a scorched earth and XYU alot. they all have the same notations of despair and giving up. whhy try when all your endeavors have failed..only to render you less of the person you were before....therie is no fucking hope, there is no love..theri is no happy ending..casue in the realenss of reality...there is only pain and suffering

Cool song, but isn't it actually titled "Fuck You (An Ode to No One)"

It means just two words: fuck everything.

Simple, yet effective.

Oh, and Alex: Fuck you.

'Nuff said.

This song is one of the greatest on this album. I used to play it on my guitar and sing it to my mom, who was fortunately very open-minded. =) Oh, and Zeitgeist DID suck!

@goblinbabies Do you think your mom knows it's about Corgan's dealings with his relationship to his parents?

This song is so full of RAGE and DISCONTENT with the subject. I aint sure who it's aimed at if one person is actually the subject, it seems he talks more about generalities... Jimmy's drumming here is a testament to how powerful he makes this band. The vocals are monsterous... i LOVE this song. oh and by the way... Oh man... i have to disagree very STRONGLY with goblinbabies ... Zeitgeist does not suck. At the first listen i didnt like it so much... but i listened to it again lately and it grew by leaps and bounds in just one listen.
