Of Ruins And A Red Nightfall Lyrics

Life gains intensified pain
to ascend within me once again
Woe strikes through radiant light
a quitus has conquered thy eyes
the sequel of life
Arising grievance rage through the eyes
of our existence a thousand times
The strife drawn hither as a daydream
ascendancy
In life we wither like laurel leaves in
winterwinds
Lurk far between
a pale destiny
drawn from the past
Enclasp my wrath in the prophecy of thine
Perchance to dream... Day of ire prithee
behold the haven of life
Perchance to dream... Day of ire prithee
may daylight draw thy veils aside
Summon the winterwind in which I walk
Enter the morning glades
of a fallen deathwish
Summon the starlight gloss in which thou rage
Enter the mourning shades
Call out in vain
for thee again
Perchance to dream you're my dancing queen
behold the haven of life
Perchance to dream... Day of ire prithee
may daylight draw thy veils aside
A strike of angina
Enthralled by the night and the shades at thy side
A star of riddance rage through the sky
Grant me thy visions... bequeath me life
Through times of yearning... on a path of indignity
No longer burning... at last this life's circuit I leave

My favorite song by Tristania, and one of my favorites of all time. To me this song is about the process of becoming tired with life and living. The last line sums up the entire song..."at last this life's circuit I leave".

My thoughts: "Life gains intensified pain to ascend within me once again" -Indeed it could mean that, being tired of the pain of life and it's woe, "a quitus has conquered thy eyes the sequel of life" -and finally perishing from the trouble of it all. (Could be suicide) "The strife drawn hither as a daydream ascendancy" -Could be arising from the death and into a dream, as the song continues as if the person is looking back at their life. "Enclasp my wrath in the prophecy of thine Perchance to dream... Day of ire prithee behold the haven of life" -In a dream like state while dead, feeling safe and away from the pain of life "Enter the morning glades of a fallen deathwish" -A walk in elysian fields is also a popular idea from after death, this could be the same thing, walking through the land of 'heaven'. "Enter the mourning shades Call out in vain for thee again" -Then perhaps the person has a reflection about all the good things in life, perhaps a love, but now there is only the darkness, covered in an illusion, and finally, "A star of riddance rage through the sky Grant me thy visions... bequeath me life Through times of yearning... on a path of indignity No longer burning... at last this life's circuit I leave" -At first, there could be anger and other emotions the person experiences, but at last there is acceptance, and is still glad nevertheless.

Just wanted to add that the title of this song is a direct quote from Tolkien's "Return of the King."

Between the 3rd & 4th Chorus the voice in death vocals says “Summon the starlight gloss in which thou rage...” It’s backmasked...

LunarStill: It is?? That's cool, where in the book is it? I guess Morten must have been really inspired by LotR in this period, Einar has said in an interview that Morten came up with the song name "Symbelmine" which is an elvish root I think, from LotR?
