Okay, so what happens to people that are greedy? They eventually get taken advantage of. The guy calls her up to confide....and she says "How dare you complain to me?" because he is getting exactly what he deserves.
Does anyone know exactly who she is refering to in this song? I'm a big Ani fan and have never found out the answer.

It sounds to me like a song to someone/everyone she's lost to the major lables. Fair wheather friends. Someone she cared about who got lost in the lights.
i heard it about alanis morissette and how she "sold out". i guess that they kinda gigged the same area (buffalo/ontario) at some point and judging by the lyrics were probably friends or at least knew of each other on the angsty-girl-on-guitar scene and alanis was offered a big deal and the rest is history. if you listen to the song and think of it like that it all makes so much sense....
