I feel like this song is just perfectly describing that moment when the person that your falling for suddenly becomes bigger than yourself. When all you want is to be with them but they're still not quite sure so you take what you can get, sillouhettes and cryptic conversations.

ani played this last night at her singapore concert. it was the final song of the encore and she said it was about us, meaning the crowd and her.

i think she was talking about the cultural differences we've got, and i think it was the PERFECT song to encapsulate the whole show.. when she went "i search your profile for a translation i study the conversation like a map 'cause i know there is strength in the differences between us and i know there is comfort where we overlap....

this song is fucking amazing. wanting something you can't have. knowing that it's possible but not being able to have it. you can take a bunch of different meanings out of it depedning on your situation.

What a beautiful song. seriously. I heard it at nationals... two girls did a lyrical/modern dance to it. Straight up amazing.

Basically I take it as a person wanting someone but confused about how they feel about her. She tries to study his/her face for some sign and disects every conversation they have. "If you won't give it to me/ at least give me a better view" If she cant be with that person then she'll kinda watch and wish... telling them to stand in front of the light so she can look and admire what she can't have.

The third verse is a "every song she sings she sings for him" type thing, whether he wants to see it or not. She approaches each day hoping that this person will tell her how they feel but she says that either the person isn't brave enough or just doesn't like her.

Holly crap!! Ani, you're a freakin' genius! This lyric speaks volumes. Ani's songs are about who Ani is, what she thinks and feels. People want to twist her lyrics to better reflect listener’s interpretation to their own thoughts and feelings. But that's OK I suppose.

this song, is just beyond amazing.

honestly one of the most talented writers I've every heard but to lyrical perfection. This one is so emotionally charged yet somehow amazingly suductive especially the way she sings it. She wants the woman, is infatuated at her form but there is some sort of negoiating going on.. I really like the quote about her songs being made of glass; she bares all in her songs, but in doing so, she risks being breakable. She's more comfortable with this than being superimposed over.
