This song is so important to me. It makes me think of leaving my childhood, the place I grew up and going to university and feeling like I have to try and be all the things I'm expected to be. Not that I've got pushy parents, I mean that I have to be myself and stand up for myself, and that's what my Mum emphasised to me... and it's hard to know how to be yourself whilst being your parent's child at the same time, knowwhutimean? :P
But to me it's also very much about a friend I have who I've fallen out with. The lines

the piano at the beginning is supposed to be a look at the process of creating a song (im sure thats not how she really does it, but its interesting all the same). when she hits on the tune the guitar comes in and... its beautiful. i think this is her best song.

This is s very beautiful song, and it's about Ani breaking up with someone after touring. She had time to think and decided not to continue with the relationship. It is a very sad song. It's very sensitive and sweet and i suppose a lot of people can relate to it. I love Ani Difranco's music...she's just so talented. She makes me feel inadequate and jealous, and at the same time, she relaxes me and challenges my mind and i like that about her.
A swedish guy covered this song and did it really good. not as slow as ani does it.. so even if you can'y understand the words I would download it. you know he original words from here so..
