After the Movies Lyrics

After the movies
In the parking lot
We stared so long
And you kissed me
With ripe young breath
So I kissed you
One night as forever

In the movies
Well, they never had it so good
One moment
So infinite
On soft wet lips

And I miss you
Are you glad I'm finally gone?
I'm so sorry to hear that
I'm so sorry
I'm so sorry

Have I hurt you?
I have hurt myself
These sad songs won't change anything

Love as fragile as a wineglass
It should have been forever
Love as fragile as a wineglass
It couldn't last forever
I'm so sorry
It should have been forever

I remember how we kissed
One night as forever

this song is one of the most powerful things i have ever heard

it brings back a bitter depressing time in my life but in a kinda good why i nearly tear everytime i hear it

it reminds me so perfectly of how i went to the movies with this one girl and we stayed in the parking lot forever, neither of us ever wanted to leave we kissed for what seemed like hours. nights like this kept happening but one day she just said im through ive found someone else and i was torn up inside for weeks. eventually the same thing happened to her as well, but ill never forget that time. this song makes me feel so good about myself i could listen to it for days

one night as forever are you glad im finally gone?

those lines mean so much to me

This has got to be the saddest loveworn song I've ever heard. "Are you glad I'm finally gone?" is the saddest line ever. It's obviously about Tim reminiscing about his ex, how he recalled such a memorable moment with her in the parking lot after watching a movie. "One night is forever" he means that it was that moment that will always be in his heart because it's the moment they connected. "Are you glad I'm finally gone? I'm so sorry to hear that. Have I hurt you?" He's crying out to her. "I have hurt myself" so deep. He felt that his faults (if there really were any. A lot of the time, we feel at fault after breakups) caused her to leave, which hurts him deeply. "Love as fragile as a wine glass, it should've been forever." he's saying that he, and she, should've handled the relationship better, cherished it more, not have taken it for granted, and stay with each other and work things out. Cursive writes such deep songs, but I must say that this is the strongest and most touching. I can relate after having my heart broken a few times.

I've been listening to Cursive for a long time. I've read about Tim. He is an amazing songwriter/singer. No offense to any of you and your wonderful input, but there is also the truth to the song. It is simple. Tim uses a lot of incredible metaphors and similies in his writing however this song is true to its text. He used to go to the movies a lot, still does. Its about how him and his lover used to go to the movies and its about one of those nights, now she isn't there and he misses her, simple.

P.s.: If you listen (if not you should) to every Cursive song/album you'll see more reference to movies.

Awww. . . I Hate Hearing Tim Sing This Song. First Time I Saw Cursive They Played This Song && He Cried :( It Was The Sadest Thing Ever Seeing Tim Leave The Stage In Tears :(

I'm Thinking It Was The Last Time He Played That Song Live. I've Seen Them So Many Time After That And Not Once More Have They Played It.

Aww. That's sad. I believe he was thinking of his ex-wife. I feel pretty bad now cause I just saw them play recently, spoke with Tim after the show, and told him I was hoping they could've played "After The Movies". He smiled and said, "Yeah, I'm sure a lot of people wanted to hear it." He was real cool and down to earth.

cursive has some of the best lyrics of any band. kasher is a poet. i'd say cursive, mcr and the smashing pumpkins have the best written lyrics of any band.

anyways, i think this song is about a couple who loved each other for a while and wanted it to last forever, but the narrator's lover soon had less interest in him, and the narrator is wondering if its something he did wrong. he says he sorry ("I'm so sorry") and compares the fragile relationship to a wineglass. anything he did could of broken it.

This is a really awesome emotional song... I love how it builds from next to nothing to him screaming... It's a really good song to remember a relationship with

This was the first Cursive song I ever heard, and I guess it has a lot of meaning to me, because a person I care about a lot introduced me to it, but the funny thing is, I can totally relate to the song now because of that person. But while the song isn't my favorite Cursive song ever (I think that place might be reserved for "The Radiator Hums"), it is amazing.

i apologize for my comment i made along time ago. it was pretty dumb. but oh well. to me, this song is about a relationship that reached it's high point but somehow got lost somewhere. he still has the same feelings for her but their love "couldn't last forever." i love the way this song intensifies as it reaches the end and slowly comes back down from the high point. lovely.
