This is a great song, one of the best on Obsolete, but nearly all of the songs on that album are excellent. The meaning of this song is fairly easy to work out. I believe that the song is basically describing to the listeners the character, Edgecrusher ( the central character of the concept story in the obsolete lyrics booklet). The song describes how Edgecrusher is dedicated to the cause of humanities freedom from Securiton and the machines and how he ' inflicts strain upon the structure', basically meaning his work to undermine the government and free humanity.
