Slither Lyrics

Don’t go looking for snakes, you might find them
Don’t send your eyes to the sun, you might blind them
Haven’t I seen you here before?

Watch the puppets dancing
See the clowns fall down
Tie your tap shoes tightly
And wear them into town

See you crawlin’
See you crawlin’ in

Don’t go looking for snakes, you might find them
Don’t send your eyes to the sun, you might blind them
Haven’t I seen you here before?
There ain’t no heroes here, no, no more

Play the game so nicely
Check, it’s your move now
We’re standing in this jungle
With serpents I have found

See you crawlin’
See you crawlin’ in

Don’t go looking for snakes, you might find them
Don’t send your eyes to the sun, you might blind them
Haven’t I seen you here before?
Have your heroes disappeared?

See you crawlin’
See you crawlin’ in
So don’t go looking for snakes, you might find them
Don’t send your eyes to the sun, you might blind them
Haven’t I seen you here before?
No, there ain’t no heroes here, no

Haven’t I seen you here before?
No there ain’t no heroes here

Don’t go looking for snakes, you might find them
Haven’t I seen you here before?
Have your heroes disappeared?
Don’t send your eyes to the sun, you might blind them

Man i hate it when someone mocks a band and everyone else jumps in and abuses him for it... well actualy i find it kinda amusing.. stupid idiots shuld always be diplomatic when mocking somthing..

I agree that the most stupid thing is when a such a good band as metallica sells out so catistrophicly see them selling dvds of there just general life makes me sick. however i do like metallica for there music, even load and reload. like the rest of the world, st anger=meh,

Now that i got that out of the way, i see this song being (like many metal songs) about war, "see you crawling" and :there aint no heroes here" fit into that genre so nicly...

and the whole verse

Oh, play the game so nicely Oh, check, it's your move now Yeah, we're standing in this jungle Yeah, with some things I have found

"the game" is chess which is a war game in itself and is often used as a metaphor for war. when i hear "jungle" i think vietnam, infact the whole snake theme fits in there quite well, america went there looking for a war and they sure as hell got one. well thats sterotyping americans i apologise, it works vice versa, look at wat happened wen any country attacks another country, generaly, they fight back.

the puppets with the tap shoes are soldiers, doing a final march through town or watever before heading overseas.

Havent i seen you here before.. obvious, war, it just keeps happening

@Snailman8 I'm sorry I know this post is almost a decade old but it's STILL stupid enough to make me facepalm XD your comment on vietnam made me laugh so hard. I mean, for one, the war was between north and south vietnam, the USA was just helping south vietnam fight for independence. America didn't go there looking for a war. Read a history book. Dumbass.

@Snailman8 @sassymetalhead the USA went to Vietnam to stop the invasion of "red" (communism). The American's might not have gone their explicitly for war, and technically it was between South and North Vietnam but America very much was part of the Vietnam War for over a decade.

It also wasn't a war for independence per se. The South had been separated from the North by international influence (first France then America). In effect the Vietnam War was a puppet of the cold war.

I think this goes along with the phrase, "Don't go looking for trouble, cuz your gonna find it."

its a little ironic that rockster/punkster made it all the way to the metallica forum to one of their least popular songs to say that they all sound the same and that they're bad. personally its songs like these that make me really love metallica. The ones that not as many people like but are still just as mindblowingly awesome.

ah i love this song, i love metallica and disturbed for the most part, and by the way, snail man has a valid opinion, i think his interpretation of the song was very accurate

There's some killer riffs in this song.

rockster/punkster - And you're here WHY? When people want to know your opinion about a band, they will ASK YOU. If you don't like them, good for you. Nobody else gives a shit.

well said silence and hammer!! ironic that rockster/punkster posted that comment on a song about looking for trouble, well, they've found it.

How ironic indeed

Why is this dumbshit giving its opinion on this song, this band if he doesn't like them? You are one stupid little kid, "rockster/punkster," it's funny you say they aren't original when your name, nor any of the music you listen to, I'm sure is original. Fall out boy, U2, Kids in the Way, and Pillar are all gay.
