The Pierced Spirit Lyrics

Gaze upon me now
A desperate soul for all time
Bound forever to this barren land... desolate
My spirit has been pierced
So crucify if you must
But just recall it's in your creed
Not to judge
Crucify me, I am the pierced spirit
Crucify me, for I know that you must
You must

Hmm, well according to legend, the Leviathan is eventually "pierced" so that it will die. Well seeing as the song right before this song (Creator Failure) was about the Leviathan, the "piercing theory" definitely works, although, i don't think this is about the Leviathan himself being pierced, i think it is about the soul of the maiden that the Leviathan consumed being pierced along with the Leviathan since the maiden is inside the Leviathan's belly.

Interesting... However i must say that this coud be kind of an interlude between Creator Faliure ant Dante's Inferno, cronologically and naratively. Y ou see, many people believe that Satan is feeling sorry for the Revolution in Heaven. This song could mean Satan's lamentation, for he is also a pierced spirit, theorically.

This has always sounded like a song about Christ to me.

Considering that Dante's Inferno plays a major role in the album I would suggest that The Pierced Spirit is actually Caiaphas, the main Jewish antagonist of Christ in the gospels, who, according to Dante's Inferno was the pierced spirit, condemned to spending eternity crucified over the path of hypocrites to be walked over.
