Love Comes Tumbling Lyrics

Love don't need to find a way
You find your own way
I forget that I can't stay
And so I say that
All roads lead to where you are
All roads lead to where you are

The seed is spilled, the bed defiled
For you, a virgin bride
Hide yourself in someone else
Don't find yourself in me
I can't lift you up again
Love comes tumbling down again

Love don't need to find a way
You find your own way
I forget that you can stay
And so I say that
All roads lead to where you are
All roads lead to where you are

Quite possibly my favorite U2 song too. If not then definitely in my top 5. Not least because of Adam's incredible bass playing and the fact that I'm a bassist too.

I'm quite sure the lyrics to this song have a strong 'stream of consciousness' thing going on. There's a video on YT of Bono singing gibberish to the music of this track which tells me that the lyrics were made to fit the music. That's not to say the lyrics don't have meaning. IMO, it's the description of someone who's not in love with his 'bride' after marrying her. Not sure if it's because he used to love her and doesn't anymore or that he loved someone else and didn't love his 'bride' in the first place ('virgin bride' would suggest the latter).

[Edit: Typp]

Correction: 'he has loves' should be 'he loves'.

this is my favourite U2 track ever... I think that u2's b-sides are their best songs, like this one... it reflects a man who doesn't want to be hurt again but he fells he's falling for the girl... he can't avoid it, so he ends up with her knowing that he will leave her although she may be the one...

always the same theme for Bono, he can't stay because he is married. I think he falls in love very often, but there is always one woman in his life. Without those strong love feelings he couldn't write those beautiful songs... This one is my favorite :)

It surprises me when no comments relate back to Bono's favorite subject.

I think here he's talking about God's love. All roads lead to where God is.

The bride is often a metaphor for the church, and seed spilled and bed defiled would be the church finding other idols. This is a theme that is continually found in the Old Testament.

God's love is always tumbling down on us if we would just bathe it in.

On a side note, I think Bono's love for his wife and family are evident in a great number of his songs. I've never seen a reason to assume he 'falls in love very often'.

@kathy10154 The Lord Jesus is saviour! Hallelujah!

I think this song is one of their best, and I say this because it's so perfect in describing love. I think the author is torn between loving someone and not wanting to be with them. I think we all can definitely relate to that. I think his lover wants him to "save" her, but he doesn't want to save her. However, he realizes that he loves her despite all the hardships when he says, "all roads lead to where you are." Brilliant song.

Cracking song, wonder if it's about his wife and longing from afar?
