I think the lyrics refer to experiences during meditation/ It can be a very heavy thing to go through. "Lying in my sweat drying ny tears." Maybe some very hard to take truth was revealed the cause of ones problems . "Waiting for you I am." "I am" is God. Thats how I see it

Serenity isn't about addiction. Its about a Motorcycle ride after losing a daughter and wife. Its about the the Drummer from Rush. This song is about someone he is arguing with and the person is vindictive.
