The Electric Co. Lyrics
Boy, stupid boy
Don't sit at the table
Until you're able to
Toy, broken toy
Shout shout
You're inside out
If you don't know
Electric co.
If you don't know
Electric co.
Red, running red
Play for real
The toy could feel
A hole in your head
You go in shock
You're spoon-fed
If you don't know
Electric co.
If you don't know
Electric co.
One, two, three, four
If you don't know
Electric co....
Just to hear me
I've found me way home
Don't sit at the table
Until you're able to
Shout shout
You're inside out
Electric co.
If you don't know
Electric co.
Play for real
The toy could feel
A hole in your head
You go in shock
You're spoon-fed
Electric co.
If you don't know
Electric co.
Electric co....

This song is written about a guy who went through Electric Shock treatment....
"Send In the Clowns" was written by Stephen Sondheim for a musical, but the most well-known version is by Judy Collins.
Bono's lyrics in Under A Blood Red Sky are "Why must I hide from myself, when I need a crowd? Bring on the crowd. I love the crowd."
Actually, written about the Bill Cosby hosted children's show, "The Electric Co". While in a cult run by "Holy Joe", Bono and the gang were forced to watch it daily.
Like BonoBaby said this song is about Electic Shock Treatmetn and how angry it made bono that the psychatiric hospital used it.
Hey, anybody ever heard the European version of "Live at Red Rocks?" In the middle of this song, they slow down and Bono does a few lines from "Send in the Clowns, but he changes it to "send in the crowd." Any idea where I can get a copy of that. My old EP just won't work anymore.
i think its i love the crowd dude
i think its i love the crowd dude
bono still sings the "send in the clowns" line when theyve playd this on the curent (2005) tour! aswell as the "despite all my rage i am still just a rat in a cage" line from 'Bullet With Butterfly Wings' by smashing pumpkins. which ties in with the psychiatric treatment idea...
this song is what bono means when he talks about "you have to have a rage inside of you to play music like this" in the early 80's edge actually broke bono's nose onstage during this song. great during vertigo
repeat the phrase electric co. several times out loud in front of someone, maintaing eye contact.. if you don't know, electric co, if you don't know, electric co, if you don't know I'll let you go..... ;) I'll let you go:electric co. :: love:god
In my version (from the live album Under a blood red sky) he sings: 'I love the crowd' and something I can't hear very well in the middle.
Anger and rage... this song is almost always "comboed"with "Cry", and no wonder :D
San Diego, vertigo Tour "you're in the sound...Bring on the clowns"
