Smash

I was about 15 when the smash album came out. I played that cassette like crazy. The other day I'm driving my 13 yr old step daughter to the library and she asks if she can pick a song on the MP3 player and what the hell does she pick? Smash! I'm like, "what hell do you think you're listening to?" She explained that she downloaded all my songs on her MP3 player and has been listening to them for a while now. I asked her if she really liked the song and she thought it was bad ass. I turned it up. It's a vicious cycle and I love it. I hate how damn trendy her school is with all the little aeropostale hollister heads posing all the time. I'm trying to teach my kids something besides material gain and mass hypnosis and I can't think of a better song.

how cn there be so many views of this sng and no messages? This is a great song which i think is about someone who wants to be themself, but others wont let him be whohe wants!

This song, for me, is all about not conforming to "popular" ideas. Its all about thinking for, and being yourself. This theme runs through this whole record. And, to some extent all of the offsprings music.. Which to me is somewhat funny, considering "Pretty fly for a white guy" and some of these other tunes :)

hehe yea the lyrics are wrong. but this is a great theme to the album smash. i love it. it gets you through those times at school where you feel alone and like no one cares about you so you stop trying to be cool and "with it" and go your own way. even if it means being alone

My stupid brother used to listen to this CD all the time when I was younger.. oh the memories sob so.. this is I think my favorite Offspring CD.. if that makes sense to you. If it doesn't then..oh well. w0rd up!

this is definitely my favorite song by the offspring. i love it! i think its just about being yourself, and not giving a fuck what everyone else thinks. awesome song!

I can't believe more people havn't commented on this song. This is the best offspring song lyrically, plus it's so energy-driven that no one can deny it's awesomeness. "Head over heals i've fit in before, now i don't wanna do it no more." Just break the chain of boring and blande conformity to society and be a unique, independent person in a culture where it's good to be the same, because everyone gets more money. Definately the best song by Offspring ever. Dude, there newer stuff is good too... just not that one song about the prankster with the rapper in the music video... i think they were high that day.
