For Martha Lyrics
Whenever I run
Wherever I run
To you lost one
It's never done
Just hanging on
The past has let me be
Returning as if dream
Shattered as belief
If you have to go don't say goodbye
If you have to go don't you cry
If you have to go I will get by
Someday I'll follow you
And see you on the other side
But for the grace of love
I'd will the meaning of
Heaven from above
But for the grace of love
I'd will the meaning of
Heaven from above
Your picture out of time
Left aching in my mind
Shadows kept alive
If you have to go don't say goodbye
If you have to go don't you cry
If you have to go I will get by
Someday I'll follow you
And see you on the other side
But for the grace of love
Who'd will the meaning of
Heaven from above?
But for the grace of love
Who'd will the meaning of
Heaven from above?
Long horses we are born
Creatures more than torn
Mourning our way home
Wherever I run
To you lost one
It's never done
Just hanging on
Returning as if dream
Shattered as belief
If you have to go don't you cry
If you have to go I will get by
Someday I'll follow you
And see you on the other side
I'd will the meaning of
Heaven from above
I'd will the meaning of
Heaven from above
Left aching in my mind
Shadows kept alive
If you have to go don't you cry
If you have to go I will get by
Someday I'll follow you
And see you on the other side
Who'd will the meaning of
Heaven from above?
Who'd will the meaning of
Heaven from above?
Creatures more than torn
Mourning our way home

How amazingly beautiful is this song?
billy wrote this song for his mother. actually most of the adore album was written for her. i just think it's so touching. i had to do this monologue thing for one of my classes where i had to put words to a song while it was playing in the background. i got perfect on it so thanks pumpkins!
I want this played at my funeral so very badly, but I'm not sure I could do it as soon as it was meant for his mother. I just have this vision of my coffin being lowered into the ground amongst a cloud of dry ice as the psychadelic guitar chorus kicks in ;)
I can make that happen.
I can make that happen.
This song makes the album...not that the other's are weak by any means. But this is another example of Billy's genius.
I love the Adore... It's one of my favorite albums... This song is so perfect... so beautiful... Billy Corgan is everything
This song is probably the BEST song on the album. The piano, mixed with the rocking out in the end, and the lyrics, Billy Corgan put all of that on a platter, ate it, and shat it out, and this glowing masterpiece is what he produced. Billy my boy, you've done it again, what a fucking great song!
Every SP album seems to have that one stand-out track that just sits above the rest of the album and just knows that it is pure genius. This song really is perfectly beautiful. If you aren't emotionally affected by For Martha then there is something very wrong with you. I want to live inside of it.
this song is playing at my funeral
Nothing much to this song; just an epic, unbelievable (and a little pretentious toward the end) tribute to Billy Corgan's mother. Also it fucking kicks ass.
yeah i want this song at my funeral, it's a good song. [if you have to go, don't say goodbye] that's so..... idk how to explain. it's just a good song. and there's a guitar in it that just sounds amazing.
