To me this song is about a relationship that's gone to a friendship. He knows it's over but also there is a new beggining for them and it may lead to more again someday.

this song is almost like explaining going to a reunion because hello again i dnt know thats my thought
it's basically about me and a former gf. the relationship is over and now their 'friends'. however, the guy wants to start up the relationship again.

i never thought that this song was about a former relationship. i thought it was about a current relationship that may have gone through some sort of trauma, but then coming out of it together has made it stronger.
it's seems obvious that it's the singer that has done something wrong ("I'm so afraid that if I wait too long You'll never look in my eyes again With a look that gave me strength and gave me hope And made me feel I've inspired"). it just sounds (to me), like he's trying to save a relationship, and not resurrect an old one. neat thing, perspective.
