Staring at the white above
Can't tell if I'm alive or am I dead?
Or is it in my head?
Where'd I go wrong?

Staring at the white above
One day I closed my eyes and here I am
A cold, unhappy man
I've come to realize that the life I have I hate
The pulse I need is slowly fading
Until I've lost it all

I've been waiting for an inspiration
For a chance I never got to take
Before it's much too late
Where'd I go wrong?

[Chorus]
Where's the boy that used to run?
Could it be he's up and gone away?
He seems so far away (he seems so far away-ay)
And all the things I could have done
Could it be they've up and gone away
They seem to far away (they seem so far away-ay)

It feels as if the boy in me has
Left and been replaced with a cheap and bitter
Imposter of myself
I must find the one that used to be
Approach him slow and don't be afraid to say
"Can he come out and play?"
Where'd I go wrong?

[Chorus]

Staring at the sky above
I found a chance I'm finally going to take
I've learned from my mistakes
Where'd I go wrong?

[Chorus]

Where'd I go wrong?
Where'd I go wrong?

General CommentThis song (to me) is sort of about a man looking back at his life, his childhood. He realizes he is now so cold, an outsider, emotionally scarred. Where'd he go wrong? How'd he get like this? Where is that boy who used to run? He's now asking himself these questions...trying to find out who he really is...

General Commenti think this song is about not living life to way you wanted to, not following your dreams ironic coming from rock stars, but good lyrics, and the bass part is kick ass too

General CommentUp and Gone" is about finding peace and hope in life apparently, about a child who's father wasnt rely around when he was young and was forced to grow up by himself, and make his own way in the world. And it seems as though he is finding it hard now and looking back at his life and thinking "how did i get to this part of my life" What happened to the boy that used to run? he is all grown up. It seems he has learnt from the mistakes he has made in life, but cannot go back to his childhood to change them

General Commenti never heard anything about it having to do w/ his father, but i do know that the song is about learning from your mistakes. thats why there are all the references to a little boy, beause the little boy is the singer, who is now grown up.

General CommentDoug is singing through the eyes of the little boy (a guy doug knew when he was younger). Doug is singing on that boys behalf about not having a father and growing up without one.

General CommentThis song is about ebenezer scrooge. Think about it. "Staring at the light above, can't tell if Im alive or am I dead, or is it in my head?"
    - That's where the spirit visits him in bed and he says things like "am I dead" and "you don't exist but in my mind...as an undigested piece of beef, etc.."

And remember scrooge was a happy kid when young, but now he's become "cheap and bitter, a cold unhappy man" Hey I don't know if Doug would really write a song about " A christmas carol" but the lyrics fit!
