Soon to be
Entombed eternally
Buried and laid to rest, forever
Confined to a memory
In exhuming the darker side
In unearthing the scars we leave behind
We uncover the warning signs
Under a broken sky
Destined to come around again
In a different light we'd shatter like porcelain
In the wake of change
In a different time, we'd crumble and blow away
And answer for all our sins
Holding our breath
Frozen in time beneath the waves
Turning our heads
Nobody left to bear the blame
In the wake of change
Holding our breath
Frozen in time beneath the waves
Turning our heads
Nobody left to bear the blame
Slowed to a crawl
Until it all begins again
We can't help ourselves
Turning our heads
Nobody left to bear the blame
In the wake of change
We're excising blood and bone
In a different light we'd shatter like porcelain
In the wake of change
Sundered and borne away, we're finally wide awake
Destined to stumble in our own way
Entombed eternally
Buried and laid to rest, forever
Confined to a memory
In unearthing the scars we leave behind
We uncover the warning signs
Under a broken sky
In the wake of change
In a different time, we'd crumble and blow away
And answer for all our sins
Frozen in time beneath the waves
Turning our heads
Nobody left to bear the blame
Frozen in time beneath the waves
Turning our heads
Nobody left to bear the blame
Until it all begins again
We can't help ourselves
Turning our heads
Nobody left to bear the blame
In the wake of change
Sundered and borne away, we're finally wide awake
Destined to stumble in our own way

Vocalist/guitarist James Lascelles commented on the track -
“‘Porcelain’ ended up being about social norms and how the values of the past seem abhorrent by modern standards. In turn, our current values will likely be seen as primitive, careless or even cruel in the future. I think we would all like to imagine that if we had been born long ago, we would have the same world view that we do now but this would likely not be the case. We are all shaped by our surroundings and social conformity, probably more than we would like to admit. It was a humbling topic to dig in to and the more I thought about it, the more empathy I was able to find for our ancestors.”
