Baby Please Don't Go (Joe Williams/Them cover) Lyrics

Rollin' off you go
Baby, please don't go
Baby, please don't go
Baby, please don't go down to New Orleans
You know I love you so
Baby, please don't go

Why don't you mind that guard
Why don't you mind that guard
Why don't you mind that guard at the County Farm
With your shackles on
Baby, please don't go

Gonna be a doll
Gonna be a doll
Gonna be a doll to get your way down here
To make you walk along
Baby, please don't go
Don't you go
Don't you go
Yeeeah ha

Baby, please don't go
Baby, please don't go
Baby, please don't go down to New Orleans
You know I love you so
Baby, please don't go

Why don't you mind that guard
Why don't you mind that guard
Why don't you mind that guard at the County Farm
With your shackles on
Baby, please don't go

A cover of a song by Northern Irish group Them, recorded in 1964, which is a rendition of a song by Delta blues musician Big Joe Williams in 1935. Incidentally with the band being a fan of Them, and needing more material for the album, including a cover was a no-brainer.

This is my first comment and I feel lucky being here , yet tears are filling my eyes ... I can't believe no one pays attention to the music of early Metalists like "Budgie" . Anyways , this is an old Blues song first recorded by "Big Joe Williams" and "Budgie is just one of many who covered this song . To me , this version is way better than all other versions including "AC/DC's" . You can , in this song , feel the power of "Burke Shelley's" bass hammering and "Tony Bourge's" screaming guitar . This version is the most Blues-driven version I've ever heard among Hard Rock bands versions . If you listen to "AC/DC's" version , you feel that it is a stray from Blues-driven Hard Rock into a straight Hard Rock . I'm not sure about a hidden meaning if one exists , but most if not all Blues , traditional songs are straight about a heartbroken man for example who would die many times just to be with his lover again and that the stronger the love the more the obstacles ...

@Zeppelin911 Youre wrong in thinking young kids like me don't appreciate the classics
