This song was written with the intention of being over the top so it would grab as much attention as possible. The lead guitarist said he wanted to write, for lack of better terminology, a "Deathcore Pop-song" or, "A radio friendly Deathcore song". The song structure adheres to a "Pop structure". The lyrics were written with the same intent. This song was very carefully constructed in a very specific way with a very specific goal and it worked.The lyrics were meant showcase Will Ramos's vocal ability (which is INSANE). The lyrics written for the sake of being as "METAL" & as "BRUTAL" as possible. I'm the lyrics have some meaning to Ramos but, it's nothing incredibly significant.

I think this is about just accepting impending & inevitable darkness as opposed to fighting it.
This song is 100% accurate to how nearly dying felt for me. About a month ago I overdosed and nearly died. It felt like I was in a black void and all I remember thinking over and over was “This is it, I’m dead. I’m never going to see anyone ever again. I’m just going to be in this black nothingness forever.” Luckily I came back after 8 hours of being completely unconscious while feeling like I’m constantly falling into an endless pit of darkness with pins and needles. I honestly thought I was done for. I’m glad that wasn’t the case!
@ThsWasATragedy I sympathize completely having overdosed myself. I have to assume your incident involved opiates. My experience was completely different (i acquired some shit laced with fentanyl). After about 30 seconds of administration I have ABSOLUTELY no memory let alone any cognitive abilities for about 8 hours. It was basically identical to being "put under" with general anesthesia. I administered the shit and (in my mind) i woke up a split second later on a gerny in the hospital with no idea of what happened or why i was in a hospital. Maybe everyone experiences an OD different but, i hope...

I think it's a firsthand recalling of a demon or more likely damned souls death. Demons were never human. Probably the latter. Powerful song.

If you listen closely and take Will as portraying characters in a way, the beginning, first mention of Azrael sounds like elation and power. Later he sounds like realization is flooding in and he sounds tormented. Ending in the full pig squeal. The truth, that is what his soul is.
