Erebus Lyrics

I am what you inject into your veins
The chemical that alters biology of your brain
I'm what dilates the pupils
And drives san people to think it's futile
And that the effect I have is beautiful
I'm the reason you claim to perceive sound the way you perceive images
The acid that eats away as you witness this
The stain on your fingertips the cancer in your lung
And yet you remain blissfully dumb
I'm the silence that precedes and follows your every decision
The blade that makes the incision, the superstition
The masquerade the religion, I am the cross
The father and zombie son and the poltergeist, the blood loss
Feeding the cosmos, sustaining the homosapien race
I am the absent DNA from its allotted place
I am an alternate evolutionary pathway
I am the mutation I am a new day
I'm the horizon once you've taken your first step
I'm the lies and fear rising in your stomach catching every breath
I'm the scarecrow scaring everything except the crows
I'm the crows in your nightmare; welcome to the show
I'm the ringmaster; welcome to the greatest show on Earth
I'll show you every darkest moment that you've suffered since your birth
Are you ready? Hold tight
This will hurt a lot, but you know this; this is your life

Aren't you happy? Why are you in pain?
I've given everything I have to give I've given in it vain
Why do you shun me? Why have you ignored
Every offer of assistance that ever you begged me for?
I've tried, I have, I've done it all
I've played your games
I've done everything but bleed for you
Do you want me to bleed? Do you want me to bleed?
Do you want me to bleed for you?

Cover art for Erebus lyrics by Dark Side Poet

This song began as a commentary of a friend who was a drug addict, & whilst certain lyrics still reference that, the rest came from a place of wanting to make some kind of supernatural horrorcore song, and that is why it is named after Erebus, the primordial god and personification of darkness in Greek mythology.
