A Secret Door Lyrics

I'm blown away
Like a layer of dust on the floor of the hall where we first met
Trust was the first thing we lost that day

You asked where to stay
You would do what you must and the drawings would say more than you could
Lust for red berries, the taste of shame

Hey!
How about me and you leaving?
There must be a way out of here
Look from the corner of your eye
The doorway is real

Hey now, why even try?
This isn't home
There must be a way out
Listen, you have to try
The door will show before we land
Before we land
Before we land
Before we land

I just wanna play
There's a scent of regret but I don't know whose time we are stealing
Ask me and I wouldn't change a thing

Am I in the way?
I will do what I must to make sure that our treasures are hidden
Move with the currents, just one more day

Hey!
How about me and you leaving?
There must be a way out of here
Look from the corner of your eye
The doorway is real

Hey now, why even try?
This isn't home
There must be a way out
Listen, you have to try
The door will show before we land
Before we land
Before we land
Before we land

I am blown away, like a layer of dust
(Yes, but I don't know the name I've been given)
No more than dirt so do what you must

I know I must pay, I know it's a crime
(Yes, but if you come inside I'm forgiven)
But there's that urge to flee
We can fight some other time

Hey!
How about me and you leaving?
There must be a way out of here
Look from the corner of your eye
The doorway is real

Hey now, why even try?
This isn't home
There must be a way out
Listen, you have to try
The door will show before we land
Before we land
Before we land
Before we land

Cover art for A Secret Door lyrics by Avatar

Vocalist Johannes Eckerström says of this track; "This song has a whistling melody that was inspired in part by Ennio Morricone and in part by a Swedish guy called Björn Olsson, who is basically an indie-pop fellow that has done a lot of light, pleasant summery tunes with whistling on them. And we got Corey Taylor from Slipknot to do the whistling. Thematically, it’s about all hope being lost. It does move more in the plane of relationships, when things might look really dark but you try until the bitter end and see something crash and burn completely instead of giving up along the way. Or like going out to the front line of battle knowing you’re going to die there. But you’ve chosen your hill to die on, which would be the secret door that you keep hoping for, the way out of the situation.”
