[Intro]
Ladies, ladies, ladies, ladies
Ladies, ladies, ladies, ladies
Ladies, ladies, ladies, ladies
Ladies, ladies, ladies, ladies

[Verse 1]
Ruminations on the looming effects of the parallax view
And the figure and the form and the revolving door
That keeps turning out more and more good women like you
Yet another woman under whom I won't get through
Ruminations on the looming effects of the parallax view
And the figure and the form and the revolving door
That keeps turning out more and more good women like you
Yet another woman under whom I won't get through

[Verse 2]
Ladies, ladies, ladies, ladies! Take it easy!
When he leaves me, please be my guest
To whatever I might have left in his kitchen cupboards
In the back of his bathroom cabinets

[Verse 3]
And oh yes, oh yes, oh yes!
There's a dress in the closet
Don't get rid of it, you'd look good in it
I didn't fit in it, it was never mine
It belonged to the ex-wife of another ex of mine
She left it behind with a note
One line that said:
"I don't know if I'm coming across, but I'm really trying"
She was very kind

[Chorus]
Ooh, man
Cuter than a button, mutton head maniac
Ooh, man
Cuter than a button, mutton head maniac

[Bridge 1]
Nobody can replace anybody else
So it would be a shame to make it a competition
And no other love is like any other love
So it would be insane to make a comparison with you

[Verse 1]
Ruminations on the looming effects and the parallax view
And the figure and the form and the revolving door
That keeps turning out more and more good women like you
Yet another woman under whom I won't get through
Ruminations on the looming effects of the parallax view
And the figure and the form and the revolving door
That keeps turning out more and more good women like you
Yet another woman under whom I won't get through

[Chorus 2]
Ooh
Cuter than a button, mutton head maniac

[Intro]
Ladies, ladies, ladies, ladies
Ladies, ladies, ladies, ladies
Ladies, ladies, ladies, ladies
Ladies, ladies, ladies, ladies

[Bridge 2]
And no love is like any other love
So it would be insane to make a comparison with you

[Intro]
Ladies, ladies, ladies, ladies
Ladies, ladies, ladies, ladies
Ladies, ladies, ladies, ladies
Ladies, ladies, ladies, ladies

[Outro]
Yet another woman under whom I won't get through
Yet another woman under whom I won't get through
Yet another woman under whom I won't get through
Yet another woman under whom I won't get through
Yet another woman to whom I won't get through

    My Interpretation

I take ladies to be about women who used to be like “my boyfriends new bitchy girlfriend” realizing they are all just women who have unjust hatred towards each other (likely from internalized misogyny) but the repeating of ladies ladies ladies is like telling women to sit down “Ladies ladies calm it down!” that’s just me but i like to imagine it like that.

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,
