The essence of songs meaning is saying God can take so much from us and yet never has to face us afterwards. This song is written from the perspective of Jesus reminding God how he was dying and brought by to life after being on the cross (burning up beneath the sun). An amusing way to see how maybe Jesus upon being brought back to life was not happy at all with God. And it seems God when punishing Jesus for mankind, also wanted to bury Jesus, as deep as possible (did you think you could dig deep enough to bury me?). The son of god is not amused and coming to take the place of God.
