Look, I think it's moving, and I'm so glad for you
Listen, something's beating, and oh, my stars, it's true

It's true, this point of view
For you, straw man, will do

Look, we've got a live one, and I'm so mad
I'll head into the corner and it can dance with you

It's true, this point of view
For you, straw man, will do

A change, a ball, looks like you've got it all
A change, a ball, gives you the longest straw
A change, a ball, looks like you've got it all
A change, a ball, you drew the longest straw

It's true, this point of view
For you, straw man, will do
It's true, this point of view
For you, straw man, will do

For you, straw man, will do

Well, I'm not sure of the intended meaning of the song, but I am going through something lately that makes me relate this song to a girl. That is probably what influences the way I take it, but my take is that this guy was either in a relationship with this girl or had strong feelings that he made known to her (like in my case) and she chose someone else after he thought he stood a chance with her. She is happy with this new guy meanwhile the one who is hurt is pretending to be happy for her until he can't fake it anymore and the sarcasm starts to show. He thought he was a much better choice and could have loved her much more some he sees this other guy as the "straw man" because he's just a placeholder for who should be there and he is angry because that seems to be enough for her. So she ends up with the guy she thinks is better but who won't love her as much as the singer could and the singer gets to end up alone..

It's especially hard for me because I will always have her around, since she is close to my family.. and only getting closer.. I have to see them together and intimate in the way I should be with her. Instead I get to stay alone and let my affection rot.

Standing On The Edge Of Summer

In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example: "'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/
