Hear Me Now Lyrics
I'm at the bottom, can you come let me up?
'Cause wrote a vow for you
Your friends are faded, let me fill up your cup
And toast to the stars over
The ocean's foaming
Emotions in the air
I don't wanna live for nothing
Just wanna be something
I never knew what it took to win
I don't wanna live for nothing
Just wanna be something
I never knew we'd be more than friends
We spin the bottle till we're kissing our cups
Felt like I'd die for you
You can't explain it, it's been years since we've touched
And I've waited nine for you
I don't wanna live for nothing
Just wanna be something
I never knew what it took to win
I don't wanna live for nothing
Just wanna be something
I never knew we'd be more than friends
Come let me up
Can you hear me now?
About half a block away out
Can you hear me now?
The ocean's flowing
Emotions in the air
I don't wanna live for nothing
Just wanna be something
I never knew what it took to win
I don't wanna live for nothing
Just wanna be something
I never knew we'd be more than friends
Come let me up
Can you hear me now?
Come let me up
About half a block away out
Come let me up
Can you hear me now
Come let me up
About half a block away out
Come let me up
Can you hear me now?
Come let me up
About half a block away out
Come let me up
'Cause wrote a vow for you
Your friends are faded, let me fill up your cup
And toast to the stars over
Emotions in the air
Just wanna be something
I never knew what it took to win
I don't wanna live for nothing
Just wanna be something
I never knew we'd be more than friends
Felt like I'd die for you
You can't explain it, it's been years since we've touched
And I've waited nine for you
Just wanna be something
I never knew what it took to win
I don't wanna live for nothing
Just wanna be something
I never knew we'd be more than friends
About half a block away out
Emotions in the air
Just wanna be something
I never knew what it took to win
I don't wanna live for nothing
Just wanna be something
I never knew we'd be more than friends
Can you hear me now?
Come let me up
About half a block away out
Come let me up
Can you hear me now
Come let me up
About half a block away out
Come let me up
Come let me up
About half a block away out
Come let me up

I believe the song is about struggling with sobriety. Vocalist Tommy Vext has made comments about being 9 years sober.
I think this song is about anything toxic or bad in your life that you can be addicted to. Chemical, physical, emotional or whatever, I think anyone that has faced any addiction can find meaning in this song.
I'm at the bottom, can you come let me up?
I think this is just a way of saying that when you have been addicted to something it is always there, it is always right outside your door waiting for you to "let it up" or let it back into your life.
'Cause I brought a flower for you Your friends are faded, let me fill up your cup And toast to the stars over
I think these are just saying how that addiction can be enticing even if you know it is bad or toxic. Plenty of people can relate to this with relationships. I think the line, I brought a flower for you is a good way of saying that this thing can offer you something good or beautiful but it will be short lived just like a flower. But it is always there to give you that momentary high or happiness but in the end it will die.
The ocean's flowing Emotions in the air
I am sure this applies to all addictions but to me personally this makes me think of addiction to a person, feeling something for a person and being unable to let them go even though you feel how bad they are for you. You feel that overwhelming rush of emotions and it is like you can't control yourself.
I don't wanna live for nothing Just wanna be something I never knew what it took to win I don't wanna live for nothing Just wanna be something I never knew we'd be more than friends
I think this whole portion is trying to make the statement that you feel when it feels like that to be so addicted and committed to something so toxic. It tears you down and makes you feel like nothing and like nothing matters but somehow you cling to that thing, and in the end all you want is to be "something" and not be constantly torn down. I think the last line means nobody ever took up drinking or went into a relationship thinking it would be something massive or addicting.
We spin the bottle till we're kissing our cups Felt like I'd die for you
This line to me means that you just go round and round with this battle and always come back together with it. The line "felt like i'd die for you" is self explanatory, addictions can make you feel that without it you will die but for a lot of people they know it will most likely mean their deaths too so you feel trapped in it.
You can't explain it, it's been years since we've touched And I've waited none for you
This to me says what I feel almost every person has felt in some way. Maybe it is a friend, or gf/bf, or maybe it is alcohol or a drug or what have you, that you swear off and can spend years away from and maybe even spent your entire time building yourself up and away from whatever it is, but when they come back in your life it feels like you will spiral right back into whatever that thing was.
Come let me up Can you hear me now? About half a block away out
I think this is the meat of the song and just signifies how it always feels like that thing is there clawing at you wanting to get back in your life. all it wants is for you to hear it and for you to accept it back in and no matter how hard you try, it is always half a block out, you never truly can let it go completely.
