Superposition Lyrics
I don't believe in fate
No psychic vision
But when things fall into place, superposition
In any universe you are my dark star
I want you to want me
Why don't we rely on chemistry?
Why don't we collide the spaces that divide us?
I want you to want me
Superstition aims with imprecision
But when things can't be explained, superposition, oh
In any universe you are my dark star
I want you to want me
Why don't we rely on chemistry?
Why don't we collide the spaces that divide us?
I want you to want me
I want you to want me
No matter what we do
I'll be there with you!
I want you to want me
Why don't we rely on chemistry?
Why don't we collide the spaces that divide us?
I want you to want me
No psychic vision
But when things fall into place, superposition
In any universe you are my dark star
I want you to want me
Why don't we rely on chemistry?
Why don't we collide the spaces that divide us?
I want you to want me
Superstition aims with imprecision
But when things can't be explained, superposition, oh
In any universe you are my dark star
I want you to want me
Why don't we rely on chemistry?
Why don't we collide the spaces that divide us?
I want you to want me
I want you to want me
No matter what we do
I'll be there with you!
I want you to want me
Why don't we rely on chemistry?
Why don't we collide the spaces that divide us?
I want you to want me

Superposition is defined as when something is put on top of or with something else. It's associated with quantum concepts, described well by Schrödinger's cat, where the properties of something can't exist with each other until they are made to fall into place. I think this song is comparing a romantic relation to this philosophical theory.
Superposition, in the case of this song, is similar to the Schrodinger Cat experiment, where, once the box is sealed up, there is the possibility of 2 states of the cat. Dead or alive. However, in the song, it speaks to the many different possibilities that exist out there, yet the two of them were meant to meet. He doesn't believe in fate, nor psychic vision, but, things "fall into place" as superposition. The pull that this person has on him, is, in fact, fate. It was meant to be. So the conundrum of him not believing in fate and then expressing how it would have happened is just the same as Superposition.
It's really such a lovely song, using STEM concepts. I can't get enough of it.
As of august 2020, through the entirety of the covid 19 stay at home pandemic this song only has 2 comments mine being the 3rd...crazy
This is a beautiful song, in music and lyric meaning.
Superpositions collapse when viewed which is the sad reality of the lyrics that once you see the love or possibility of love it collapses... Was it ever really there?
The "ahhh" after saying all that was on his mind is full of relief and love even if there was nothing there
