Bison on the Plains Lyrics

Bison on the plains,
Stupid symphony strings,
The same old tricks they used to get you to cry,
Over nothing,
Over everything.

Bison on the plains,
I only packed a couple of things,
This high was like a sorry parade,
Of hearing traffic and going nowhere.

Bison on the plains,
The photograph is never the same,
I learned this when I was seven or eight,
This all means nothing,
This all means everything.

Bison on the plains,
And those overused overture strings,
The same old tricks they used to get you to cry,
Over nothing,
Over everything.

Ahh...
Bison on the plains...
Ahh...
Bison on the plains...
Ahh...
Bison on the plains...
Ahh...
(same old tricks)
Bison on the plains...
Ahh...
Bison on the plains...
(same old tricks)
Ahh...
Ooh...

Cover art for Bison on the Plains lyrics by Grandaddy

This is like listening to every Grandaddy song at the same time while Jason Lytle explains how he’s been manipulating our emotions all these years with the sounds repeated throughout both discographies... it’s frelling brilliant !!!

I really appreciate the nod towards our subjective experiences:

o/‘ this all means nothing / this all means everything o/‘ and o/‘ the same old tricks they used to get you to cry / over nothing / over everything o/‘

It comes across to me as if he’s saying “hey, Jed E3 is just a song, you don’t have to feel sad for him, but it’s ok if you do and it’s ok if other things are making you sad”. That’s just me tho...
