Say Something Lyrics

[Intro: Justin Timberlake]
Oh, yeah, alright
Ooh

[Verse 1: Justin Timberlake]
Everyone knows all about my direction
And in my heart somewhere I wanna go there
Still I don't go there

[Chorus: Justin Timberlake]
Everybody says say something
Say something, say something
Say something, say something
I don't wanna get caught, up in the rhythm of it
But I can't help myself, no, I can't help myself, no, no
Caught up in the middle of it
No I can't help myself, no I can't help myself, no, no, no
Caught up in the rhythm of it

[Post-Chorus: Justin Timberlake & Chris Stapleton]
Maybe I'm looking something I can't have (Maybe I'm looking something I can't have)
Maybe I'm looking something I can't have

[Verse 2: Chris Stapleton & Justin Timberlake]
Everyone knows all about my transgressions
Still in my heart somewhere, there's melody and harmony
For you and me, tonight (whoa)
I hear them call my name

[Chorus: Chris Stapleton & Justin Timberlake]
Everybody says say something
Say something, say something
Say something, say something
I don't want to get caught, up in the rhythm of it
But I can't get help myself, no I can't help myself, no, no
Caught up in the middle of it
No I can't help myself, no I can't help myself, no, no, no
Caught up in the rhythm of it

[Post-Chorus: Justin Timberlake & Chris Stapleton]
Maybe I'm looking something I can't have (Maybe I'm looking something I can't have)
Maybe I'm looking something I can't have (Maybe I'm looking something I can't have)
Maybe I'm looking something I can't have (Maybe I'm looking something I can't have)
Maybe I'm looking something I can't have (Maybe I'm looking something I can't have)

[Bridge: Justin Timberlake & Chris Stapleton]
Sometimes, the greatest way to say something is to say nothing at all
Sometimes, the greatest way to say something is to say nothing at all
Sometimes, the greatest way to say something is to say nothing

[Part-Chorus: Justin Timberlake, Justin Timberlake & Chris Stapleton]
But I can't help myself, no I can't help myself, no, no
Caught up in the middle of it
No I can't help myself, no I can't help myself, no, no, no
Caught up in the rhythm of it

[Post-Chorus: Justin Timberlake & Chris Stapleton]
Maybe I'm looking something I can't have (Maybe I'm looking something I can't have)
Maybe I'm looking something I can't have (Maybe I'm looking something I can't have)
Maybe I'm looking something I can't have (Maybe I'm looking something that I can't have)

[Outro: Justin Timberlake & Chris Stapleton]
Sometimes the greatest way to say something is to say nothing at all
Sometimes the greatest way to say something is to say nothing at all
Sometimes the greatest way to say something is to say nothing

I'm fucking sick of those "gatekeepers". This song has been written by Timberlake because he got attacked after he said he felt inspired by an acceptance speech at the BET Awards of 2016 (https://www.thefader.com/2016/06/27/justin-timberlake-tweets-bet-awards) and I don't agree that he apologized for being inspired.

If we can't be inspired by others, where do we draw the line? Do black people have to apologize to the Homo Erectus that first banged a stick against a trunk and liked the sound? Or must that forefather of us apologize to the fishes because one of them climbed out of the water to live on the land? Or must the fishes apologize to a single cell organism because one of our ancestors decided to do division to become more then a single cell organism?

Or the other way around. Do we have to demand apologies from Living Colour and Bad Brains, because they were black people who dared to play rock, metal and punk? Get the fuck out. Inspiration is a beautiful thing and should be shared, not looking at skin colour or whatever. Fuck gatekeepers.
