She walks with a sway I hope I never replicate
She thinks she's on top of the world
Living two lives at the same time

Sunday's revival brought you to your senses
Repent, repent for all your sins
But the second you walked out those double doors
You became the same that you were when you walked in
She hits the ground so hard she can't get back up
But how would I know? I wasn't even there
I'm hearing it from somebody else

Living in a world of lies
Won't get you anywhere in this life
Even though I'll always love you
I'm still stuck with a liar for a friend

His father was a preacher
And he knew that book like the back of his hand
To him it's just a novel, oh just a novel
Raise those hands, make them think that you're in the congregation
Fake it, fake it
But when you walk back through those double doors
The mask comes off and you keep on living for yourself

You make it out to be a game
You make it out to be a game
You make it out to be a game
Pretending to be something you are not
Nobody knows, nobody knows that your actions speak differently when
you're not alone

The public eye has no idea what you're like in the middle of the night
But the public eye is not the only eye that's watching you

Living in a world of lies
Won't get you anywhere in this life
Even though I'll always love you
I'm still stuck with a liar for a friend
A liar, a liar, a liar for a friend
A friend, a friend, a liar for a friend

Sunday's revival
Let's see how much you've changed
You made it out to be a game
Sunday's revival
Let's see how much you've changed
Let's see how much you've changed

I can feel the frustration he writes about as people who seem to be Christian- 'His father was a preacher' (or of another religious faith) act one way in front of some people and then change completely when in different company. Be yourself! Be true with what you say you believe... It's also a wake up call for everyone- make sure that your actions really do line up with whatever it is you say you believe! Ie. 'I hope I never replicate...'

I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

Blue
Ed Sheeran
“Blue” is a song about a love that is persisting in the discomfort of the person experiencing the emotion. Ed Sheeran reflects on love lost, and although he wishes his former partner find happiness, he cannot but admit his feelings are still very much there. He expresses the realization that he might never find another on this stringed instrumental by Aaron Dessner.

American Town
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran shares a short story of reconnecting with an old flame on “American Town.” The track is about a holiday Ed Sheeran spends with his countrywoman who resides in America. The two are back together after a long period apart, and get around to enjoying a bunch of fun activities while rekindling the flames of their romance.

Page
Ed Sheeran
There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
