I think this is about someone who is so lost in life and in their present relationship that they feel like the pain they're in is like a bad trip or drug. They need a release from it all at this point & desperately are seeking answers.
@EternalTearsOfSorrow To me it sounds like this person is wishing they were different and they feel that in a sense everything they try in life ends in failure or they give the best of themselves in relationships and love interests and they result in failure each time.
