Seems clear this is about a relationship between two people that was doomed from the start. One person was doing their best to be loving & hang in there while the other one was creating drama, playing games and pretending to be in love. Finally the games become too much and this song is about the latter being called out for all their past transgressions.
It's obvious. the lyrics speak about a toxic relationship, being constantly proven that there is a let down on building any trust in each other. this song actually helped me get through a bad break up in the past. Cognitive behavioral therapy at it's best, when you attach the lyrics to how you can relate and feel in the lyrics.
