[Focus]

Riders on the storm
Riders on the storm
Into this world we're thrown
Again

Riders on the storm
There's a killer on the road
His brain is squirming like a toad
Oh yeah

Again

It seemed like yesterday
I was just a little kid
Living my life in the dream
Trying to become a man
That everybody always talked about
The man that everybody forseen
Or thought I would become
I opened up the door and there you stood
Looking at me
You threw a smile
I thought I found my sanity
But you were just another joke
Another hoax
And yet I still let you in and took off your coat
I offered you a drink
You had to stop and concentrate
You stay without a blink and
Focus so I had to think resisting
Twisted
Totally aware of what I'm missing
On this mission
The focus on the powers within

Save my energy
I feel my energy it glows
Save my energy
Another day with you I'm dying slow
I Save my energy
Feel my energy it flows

Another day living my life in your paradise
And I know that when you look down
And laugh at me you think twice
'Cause I'm the type of person
That walks away
When you look down and laugh at me
I turn my cheek the other way
Another day
Living in your poverty
Another baby dying from insufficient supplying
You want a know reality
I'll tell you no lie
I'm fucked
That's my reality

I save my energy
I save my energy it glows
Save my energy
Humanity with you I'm dying slow
I save my energy
Feel my energy it flows

Flag the sets, stack, stretch
You never get enough
Take it to another level
Just to see if you can handle
It was yesterday when I was just a little kid
Living my life in this dream
Well guess what
I ain't the man
Everybody always talked about
The man that everybody foreseen
Or thought I would become
I opened up the door
And there you stood looking at me
You threw a smile and, man, I lost my sanity
'Cause you were just another joke bitch
Another hoax
And yet I still let you in and took off your coat
I offered you a drink
You had to stop and concentrate
You stay without a blink and
Focus so I had to think resisted
Twisted
Totally aware of what I'm missing
On this mission
A motherfucking trying to live

Save my energy
I save my energy it grows
Save my energy
A melody when you are dying slow
I save my energy
Feel my energy it flows

Hey
Not to touch the earth
Not to see the sun
Nothing left to do but run run run
Let's run
Let's run
Run

House upon the hill, moon is lying still
Shadows of the trees, witnessing the wild breeze
Come on baby run with me
Let's run
Run

I've got two tickets to Peridon just can't sleep
I got no reason to worry cause it's just a dream
On my way to the classroom
Lit the fire
It's a burning desire
Murder
Water is needed

[Reborn]

Waiting in line
Walking in circles
Ordinary time passes by
For the next beginning
Or ending
How long must I wait lonely in line
I sink my head just to hold it up
I wonder why I should stay

And I want to say
And I want to stay
And I know that somehow I will
And I want to know
I don't want to go
And I know that somehow you
Failed

So you prophesized on the next beginning
Never really understood why
I had to lay my life down
Forever

How long must I stride lonely in time
I'm sick of all the same old lies
I wonder why I
Still stay

And I want to say
And I want to stay
And I know that somehow I will
And I want to know
I don't want to go
And I know that somehow you
Failed
You failed

And everybody get the fuck up
I'm breaking in time
To tell you where I'm coming from
Where I've really been
And where we're really going to
And even though I know the test was only for the best
I'll say the trick
Even when I was a little boy shit was thick
Broken wings and melodies
Falling all around this world
Never said they'd catch me if the day should come when I was bold
Appreciate and face the facts
We're all in debt
For our first take of breath
But don't miss
'Cause now the time has come
Leave your worries to the side
It's time to take a stand
While you little bitches hide
Jumping and a jump to all the finer things in life
And if he's already got you
Throw the lifeline with the knife
'Cause now that some will see
Who can handle all the pressure
Moving to another level
Taking on the masters
Do you want to test this
Wonder what death is
You try to imitate it
But you can't even get even rocked by this
It's so strong
I know it's very hard
But if you take my hand
Only then may we discard
Lead me to the light
I'll show you the way in return
We're going to make some noise
Straight from motherfucking Baltimore

Waiting in line
Facing the circles
Ordinary time passes by
It's just like I'm walking with angels
They're all alone and cold
If you notice
If you notice
If you notice

And I want to say
And I want to stay
And I know that somehow I will
And I want to know
I don't want to go
But I know that somehow you fail

And I want you to say
And I want you to stay
And I know that somehow you will
And I want you to know
I don't want to go
But I know that somehow I will

Why
Why
I will

Light Up The Sky
Van Halen
The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.

Fast Car
Tracy Chapman
"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him. There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.

Dreamwalker
Silent Planet
I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

I Can't Go To Sleep
Wu-Tang Clan
This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.

Page
Ed Sheeran
There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
