Dying to Believe Lyrics

Like dragging nails through my skin

Strip the scar, scratch the itch
Dig your nails deep, until the nerve is good and raw
Pulling teeth again, to pay for all your sins
The blue pill or the red, all you want are enemies

Feel the tension set to break
We've swallowed more than we can take
Like dragging nails through my skin

Die, die, dying to believe
This beast you resurrected won't break its leash
We're die, die, dying to believe
That the ghost of the ills of this world will
Find you where you sleep

We'll find you where you sleep

God complex, let's start a war
Whose prayers will you answer, whose will you ignore
Paint it black and torn apart
Baptized in hate to the beat of a hollow heart

Feel the tension set to break
We've swallowed more than we can take
Like dragging nails through my skin

Die, die, dying to believe
This beast you resurrected won't break its leash
We're die, die, dying to believe
That the ghost of the ills of this world will
Find you where you sleep

We'll find you where you sleep

Because it's a sick fucking world in a sick fucking time
Splitting at the seams as you desecrate the hive
The cancer's in your heart, the poison's in your mind
Forked tongue motherfucker tell me how the hell do you sleep at night

How do you sleep at night

Dying to believe

Die, die, dying to believe
This beast you resurrected won't break its leash
We're die, die, dying to believe
That the ghost of the ills of this world will
Find you where you sleep

I think this might maybe be about how people in power are starting/continuing wars thinking they've got it under control 'dying to believe this beast you've resurrected won't break its leash'. everyone else is 'dying to believe' that these people in power that are causing so much pain and suffering will wake up to themselves and not be able to sleep at night 'the ghosts of the ills of this world will find you when you sleep'. I dont know if this makes sense but meh.

'dying (to believe)' literally I forgot to add.

Agree with @jonjonwinny , but believe he missed the fundamental element of where the song's rage is directed. Religion.

The title "Dying to Believe" hints towards a religious context, and then references throughout "God complex", "baptized", "resurrected" and "forked tongue" (Devil) all suggest that the band is angered by religion being used (willingly and unwillingly) to justify violence, war and death.

My Interpretation

@sokorny yeah but these people who are using religion to justify war are completely misinterpreting what the religion is all about. most of these religions are peaceful but the idiots are trying to change it to suit them so they can start wars and be violent.

@jonjonwinny yeah I agree (hence why I wrote "willingly and unwillingly") ... I think the band is sort of suggesting this too.
