Q&A
River Lyrics
No, I'm not dead, just a head lighter
Gone in the wind as dust of us requires
I’m already ready for my arriving departure
Along your river
Would there be enough grace to outweigh the grave?
Along your side
Would there be enough legs for us to break?
Along your river, I stand dry
Be thou my vision
Hide tide on the crystal seas
And be thou my vision
Run down in the golden streets
And be thou my vision
'cause I've never seen nothing
No, I'm not dead, just ahead of the rest
Words weight bearing beams, always seem to hold everything
Oh, hack through the view
You need them, but you do not want to
Along your river
Would there be enough grace to outweigh the grave?
Along your side
Would there be enough legs for us to break?
Along your river
I stand dry
Be thou my vision
Hide tide on the crystal seas
And be thou my vision
Run down in the golden streets
And be thou my vision
'cause I've never seen nothing
Him and her
Hem and haw
'til all is gone, all is lost
Meanwhile, you and I
Euthanize our supplies of alibis
Who am I to ask the questions?
Who am I?
Gone in the wind as dust of us requires
I’m already ready for my arriving departure
Would there be enough grace to outweigh the grave?
Along your side
Would there be enough legs for us to break?
Along your river, I stand dry
Hide tide on the crystal seas
And be thou my vision
Run down in the golden streets
And be thou my vision
'cause I've never seen nothing
Words weight bearing beams, always seem to hold everything
Oh, hack through the view
You need them, but you do not want to
Would there be enough grace to outweigh the grave?
Along your side
Would there be enough legs for us to break?
Along your river
I stand dry
Hide tide on the crystal seas
And be thou my vision
Run down in the golden streets
And be thou my vision
'cause I've never seen nothing
Hem and haw
'til all is gone, all is lost
Meanwhile, you and I
Euthanize our supplies of alibis
Who am I?

"No, I'm not dead, just a head lighter."
This seems like a direct reference to John the Baptist.
John was beheaded but also one of the first people in the Bible to really talk about "heaven" or an afterlife. Which, is what the rest of the song seems to be about. He received his notoriety and subsequent execution for baptizing people in a river (in anticipation of Jesus coming and saving Isreal)
