If you were to do something that I perceived as being mean
I'd do my best
To avoid calling you a jerk
Because maybe you were just having a bad day
Besides
If I were you
I'd be doing the same things as you
If I had your genetics and life experiences
I'd be doing the same things as you

I looked up "empathy" in the dictionary
"Empathy" is defined as
"The power of understanding and imaginatively entering into another person's feelings"
So before you call someone a "jerk"
Use your imagination
To enter into that person's feelings

I'd be doing the same things as you

What if YOU are the one who's being mean?
How can you know you are being mean
If no one's speaking with you about your actions?
Well, you can ask yourself this question:
"Am I following the Golden Rule?
Am I treating others
The way I like to be treated myself?"
If you're having trouble respecting someone
Practice empathy
And say these words:
"If I had your genetics and life experiences
I'd be doing the same things as you
