S.O.B. Lyrics
I'm gonna need someone to help me
I'm gonna need somebody's hand
I'm gonna need someone to hold me down
I'm gonna need someone to care
I'm gonna writhe and shake my body
I'll start pulling out my hair
I'm going to cover myself with the ashes of you and nobody's gonna give a damn
Son of a bitch
Give me a drink
One more night
This can't be me
Son of a bitch
If I can't get clean
I'm gonna drink my life away
Now for seventeen years I've been throwing them back
Seventeen more will bury me
Can somebody please just tie me down
Or somebody give me a goddamn drink
Son of a bitch
Give me a drink
One more night
This can't be me
Son of a bitch
If I can't get clean
I'm gonna drink my life away
My heart was aching hands are shaking bugs are crawling all over me.
Son of a bitch
Give me a drink
One more night
This can't be me
Son of a bitch
If I can't get clean
I'm gonna drink my life away
I'm gonna need somebody's hand
I'm gonna need someone to hold me down
I'm gonna need someone to care
I'm gonna writhe and shake my body
I'll start pulling out my hair
I'm going to cover myself with the ashes of you and nobody's gonna give a damn
Give me a drink
One more night
This can't be me
Son of a bitch
If I can't get clean
I'm gonna drink my life away
Seventeen more will bury me
Can somebody please just tie me down
Or somebody give me a goddamn drink
Give me a drink
One more night
This can't be me
Son of a bitch
If I can't get clean
I'm gonna drink my life away
Give me a drink
One more night
This can't be me
Son of a bitch
If I can't get clean
I'm gonna drink my life away

It seems to me this song is about someone who starts off trying to stop drinking, but says he needs some help. Then... he abruptly gives up and starts drinking again. The cycle repeats, much like it does in real life.
I have to say the upbeat nature and humorous lyrics belie the depressing actual story.
@modnewt the upbeat parts is during the chorus when he gives up. It I feel it reflects the party when he drinks. While still thinking about the fact that he broke again partying that failure away. The verses are softer because that's when he is alone and left with his toughs.

The humming always comes after the upbeat chorus so you might interpret it as the humming and pounding of an hangover.

Look up delerium tremens and you will understand what this song is about. The guy is trying to stop drinking but ends up going through alcohol withdrawal. The symptoms are so rough that he says "son of a bich" I can't do this I need a drink.
Also, the line should be "I'm going to writhe and shake my body" not "write"
Terrific song, and to me it is a very astute observation of trying, and failing, and trying, and failing to quite the old demon alcohol.
This song is about Rateliff's struggle with alcoholism.
The verse is when he's not drinking, and everything feels gloomy when he's sober - hence the chant that sounds like a prison song (the music video is literally a prison).
The chorus is when he relapses and starts drinking again ("Give me a drink, One more night") and the music sounds like a party. He thinks about the gloomy sober person he was - "this can't be me". Then the reality sets in and he decides to stop drinking again ("SOB If I can't get clean I'm gonna drink my life away").
The bridge is a medically accurate description of delirium tremens, the shaking and heart rate disturbance that comes from alcohol withdrawal. Then he relapses back to the chorus.
Wishing the best to anyone out there fighting a similar battle.
@SharkPuncher @sharkpuncher never noticed the connection to delirium tremens in the bridge until you pointed it out
