I think this song is about two people loving each other very much. "I wanna tell you but you have to wait" could be the gift of love and you don't tell someone before you ask them to merry you. He then blames his S.O. of trying to spoil the surprise, maybe being snoopy. clearly upset saying "you think you're smart" idk what it all means, its just a good song.
