Can't Deny My Love

These are the lyrics I hear and my interpretation:

Open up, to the night our bed is Underneath the heavy moon.

He's praying, asking God's help. Open up(help me) to the night (to the disbelievers) our bed (his faith/holy communion) is underneath the heavy moon--cast a doubt like a shadow walking through the corners of the room(is being questioned or doubted)

I always thought I'd have a full tank to go(he thought he would be strong enough to withstand these attacks on his beliefs)

'But not tonight, you're running low' (but he's not)

I always thought I'd find my own way (again he thought no one would be able to make him unable to fight back for his beliefs, but he'd failed as he's only human or was caught off guard.) This kinda makes me think of the interview he did with Richard Dawkins, where his faith was questioned and he was caught off guard and you could see the struggle and hurt on his face.

This sounds to me like the devil is mocking him knowing that he'd hit a nerve.

He is saying that he is tired of the onslaughts, the devil (known in the Bible as the father of lies) can try his best but he won't deny/take away his beliefs. The devil can instead (as in the Bible Christians were told to run to the hills to save themselves) run to the hills or close his eyes if he doesn't like his beliefs, but he won't deny him them.

The eyes of God are watching over us So we don't break the golden rules. The seven seas, have we learned or Are we sailing on a ship of fools?

He is saying that God exists, and is protecting him, but the world is non the wiser.

He thought that one day the world would acknowledge the beliefs that he has, but it's not happened as their still questioning them.

When you close your eyes, tell me what you see.(This again is the devil mocking him, asking him what he sees when he prays, because you can't see God so then there must not be a God.) Locked up in your room is there any room for me?(he wants him to stray from God) The devil knows that: In the spoils of your mercy (he's got no sympathy for the devil) In the reverence of your bed(and highly regards his faith/communion with God) In the cradle of the morning(Jesus is known as the Bright Morning Star, and he is in is protection)

I think the song is actually about temptation, more specifically about the temptation of sex. I just listen to the song and there are alot of lyrics which seem to suggest that these temptations are overwhelming him - especially: "The eyes of God are watching over us so we dont break the golden rule"

This ties in which the religious themes we've seen throughout Brandon's solo career and how pre-marital sex is a sin.

Just my personal interpretation of the song, debate me please ;))))))
