I got a girl crush
Hate to admit it but
I got a heart rush
Ain't slowing down
I got it real bad
Want everything she has
That smile and that midnight laugh
She's giving you now

I want to taste her lips
Yeah, 'cause they taste like you
I want to drown myself
In a bottle of her perfume
I want her long blonde hair
I want her magic touch
Yeah, 'cause maybe then
You'd want me just as much
I got a girl crush
I got a girl crush

I don't get no sleep
I don't get no peace
Thinking about her
Under your bed sheets
The way that she's whispering
The way that she's pulling you in
Lord knows I've tried
I can't get her off my mind

I want to taste her lips
Yeah, 'cause they taste like you
I want to drown myself
In a bottle of her perfume
I want her long blonde hair
I want her magic touch
Yeah, 'cause maybe then
You'd want me just as much
I got a girl crush

I got a girl crush
Hate to admit it but
I got a heart rush
It ain't slowing down

    My Interpretation

When I first heard this via the commercial video I was impressed by the quality of the song, and it never occurred to me it was anything but a song about a woman wanting to be like another woman who has some man's attention in the hope of gaining his attention for herself. Then I found there were some who thought it was a lesbian song and I thought they obviously hadn't listened to the lyrics. Then I came here and checked the full text. Strangely, even though it seems obvious, and even though the artists say "This woman is looking at the woman her man left her for.." there is nothing in the lyrics to exclude the idea that it could be about three women. I am not saying it is, and I don't think it is, but the interpretation cannot be excluded. Yep, it could even be sung by a gay man in love with a straight guy he can't have. The conclusion is that it is a genius song because it can be related to in many ways.
