Ok, here's my interpretation: (it's pretty vague, I'll have to listen to it another million times to fully realize it)

"This dog got bit on a leg He got a really big chip on a leg Don't want to get out of bed Less he feel like it justified"

-something bad happened, (This dog got bit on a leg He got a really big chip on a leg) and he doesn't want to get up to try again, what's the point- I'm not yet sure about the justified part.

"Here comes the loaf again Drip a lot, drip a lot Become an oaf again Trip a lot, trip a lot" -not sure about the loaf and the drip, but the "Become an oaf again Trip a lot, trip a lot" part sounds like he's making a bad decision (becoming an oaf) and messing up again and again, (Tripping a lot) "So wide to the other side Shuts an eye" -it's so far to a goal, "shuts an eye" could mean a change in perspective.

"But he stays like a stump inside" -even with a changed perspective, he still feels dead inside, like a tree stump.

"Upon the gusts he glide" -pulled by whims and outside forces, "Brittle mind, brittle mind" -an unwillingness to change, this correlates to the "Stump Inside" line

the tone of the lyrics change drastically in this part of the verse.

"Toward a bigger sign Every time, every time" -this is a pretty easy part, (or so i think) the bigger sign is a divine message that he tries to reach, again and again, "So much for the safest vibe Tossed aside" -with this sign/ goal as his destination, he abandons the familiar and safe things to reach that goal, "But he burns like a blaze inside -he's on fire now, straining towards his sign/goal, full of fervor and passion for his cause.

the apparent theme of this song, and many of his songs, in continuing and, despite repeated failures, pushing forward.

this is all my opinion, and I'm most likely very wrong about a lot of the meanings in this song.

lastly, when I say "he" I don't necessarily refer to Noah, I'm using it as a general term, but as the song is titled "Mr Noah", I assume that it's about him.

I hope that this all makes sense; what do you think?

A wounded person stays at home and self-medicates with hallucinogens.

This is an amazing song... I'll try to decipher it later... i just want to say that, in the past year, events have happened in my life, and right after each one, i would hear a Panda Bear song that I haven't heard before, and it would completely relate to my situation. I won't share everything, because it's personal, but here's 2 instances:

I had just learned something shocking about a girl that I really, really liked. this information caused me to not like her, in a painful way. the next day, I heard "Last Night At The Jetty" for the first time.

This one is even better. The first time I smoked weed, I wanted to pack a lot of experiences into my first high, which included listening to songs from my favorite artist. I go on youtube, and what should I find? Yup. Cosplay. that was practically a religious experience.

There were other, more personal experiences that corresponded to me finding/re-appreciating more of his songs, including "You Can Count On Me" I know that this song will apply to my situation, as I've been writing this I've been trying to decipher the lyrics and they're already connecting. :) Panda Bear Bliss :)

Also, we share the same first name, so there's that.

The song is about self destruction, in an effort to create some bargain with a force to be reckoned with - probably himself. And although such a disgraceful situation is at hand, he still aims to do it the most graceful way that he knows how - for it's all he's got.

I feel that the lyrics are the things that either people actually think about him or what he thinks that they think about him. And I'm sure that it bothers him to a good extent either way. Enough so for him to lyricize in a song that he wants to be as authentic and original sounding as possible. So much for the safest vibe - tossed aside.
