Shut Up and Dance

In my perspective, I see a spontaneous girl and a shy guy... She takes him to lots of dances out of free will and she just pulls him into the music and the beat. Her free spirt is what the guy continuously falls in love with.

I like this song way too much.

So now let's ruin the message of it by overanalyzing it! :)

Obviously the young man has a problem with overthinking things and regretting the past, and he encounters a girl without that particular problem (don't you dare look back, just keep your eyes on me...)

Obviously it all feels predestined to him, and he goes on about THAT in his overwrought way. I kind of doubt she's thought about it that much.

So she's taken control of him and the situation. He wants to <i>discuss</i> the wonder of the whole thing, and she just wants to dance/enjoy the moment.

Perhaps she knows this isn't a permanent thing? Or maybe it is, so she wants to enjoy it together, without going over the regrets of the past?

this song has been playing on the radio at work for a few wks now...it gets stuck in my head...and the first time i heard it, i got up and danced alone (it was late at night)

Wow this is making the charts?? Nothing original going on here, but it definitely is going for the pop signature of trying to repeat certain lines enough times that it gets stuck into your head.

I think this song could be taken far more then just a single night of dancing. I think it's very representative of a relationship, even just the beginning of it. He's shy and prone to worrying, and she's confident and always living in the moment. He could be stuck where he is, and she's dragging him helplessly forward in life, and he is loving every minute of it.

They were meant to be together, and perhaps it started with a single dance, but it ended with the rest of their life.

And it's cute and poppy, I like this song.

This song is about a guy finding a girl who likes him and is confident in herself. He is expressing feelings of the time he was asked to dance.

This song seems to be about enjoying oneself and having a good time, not worrying about being too serious.

Basically a girl ask a awkward guy to dance with her. The awkward guy enjoys being with her and thinks she is the gal. So, he tried flirting with her (act cool) and the girl just shut him up and keep dancing with him.

Such a fun song. I wish more song like this is on the radio.

I think it's actually the aftermath of an argument. He wants to reflect on what caused it; she wants to forget it and move forward.
