Ariel Lyrics

I found you
In the dark
I found you
In the dark

Don't leave me
Here
Don't leave me

Staring at the sun
A love so strong it hurts
Staring at the sun
A love so strong it hurts

I dreamed of you
In the dark
You spoke to me
From afar
What you mean to me
Is clear
And I'll always be near

I found you
In the dark
I found you
In the dark

Don't leave me
Here
Don't leave me

Staring at the sun
A love so strong it hurts
Staring at the sun
A love so strong it hurts

I look into your eyes
See my life defined
Look into your eyes
See your heart in mine

Staring at the sun
A love so strong it hurts
Staring at the sun
A love so strong

I might as well just say it from a base perspective that this song is about love. But what about love? The fact that the recurring and beginning line of the song is "I found in the dark / I found you in the dark", like a mantra of disbelief as she goes onto plead "Don't leave me / Here". The separation of the word 'here' seems to imply that she's now in the dark, the one that she loves isn't any longer, and the worst part of all is that he's moving past her while she still loves him. She built him up and nurtured him and loved him and now he's grown past her, and she absolutely hasn't grown past him. She even loves him through this decision.

The song reminds me of the way I feel in regard to my children (staring at the sun, love so strong it hurts - look into your eyes, see my life defined/see your heart in mine). In that perspective, it appears that the child she gave birth to saved her (them).
