This song is one of the most powerful songs I've ever heard in my entire life. This song addresses something a few people have. Sometimes in relationships the bond is so strong at some point, people claim to be able to communicate telepathically. The two in this song were in a relationship and on that soulmate telepathic level. The song eludes to the couple breaking up and the man in the relationship being especially hurt by it. The female singer in the song talks about how someday she'll still check in on him and talk to him.(From afar, via the ether) It's likely the man in this relationship prior to the breakup was already in a bad place. The woman in this song, has her doubts was real because it was so strong, calling their love "an illusion" later on. While it's hard to tell if she would get back together, there seems to be a possibility once he's not afraid or out of his dark place. This song is sort of like breaking up to "take a break" but the break could be permanent if things don't change.
