Pretty straightforward in the sense that she is talking about a former relationship/fling and how they used to listen to 90s music. I think the nostalgia she feels parallels, on another level, the nostalgia that is commonplace in much of today's music which pays homage to the music of previous eras, for example in the use of samples. There is an interesting TED talk about sampling in music but that's another story.
