Always in My Head Lyrics

I think of you
I haven't slept
I think I do
But I don't forget
My body moves
Goes where I will
But though I try my heart stays still
It never moves
Just won't be lit
And so my mouth waters to be fed
And you're always in my head
You're always in my head
You're always in my head
You're always in my head

You're always in my head
Always in my head
Always in my

This, I guess
Is to tell you you're chosen out from the rest

Most certainly and obviously a straight forward break up song.

Chris has said he wanted to start the album with this song as it lays his heart on his sleeve straight away.

The last verse is actually :

"This, I guess Is to tell you you're chosen out from the rest"

Which speaks for itself in the context of this being Chris' breakup album - but with a positive, hopeful slant.

This song breaks my heart and better yet makes me FEEL like I have a broken heart. It's amazing how Coldplay can influence how you feel with their music. They are truly amazing artists and can make the simplest messages the most beautiful things I've ever heard.

This song, as mentioned in previous comments, could be about a very bad breakup, or just about losing someone in general. Hits home for sure.

For me, this song is about falling in love and being afraid of getting hurt (But though I try my heart stays still). That person never leaves your head, until you accept, that yes, he/she's the chosen one.

Yes, it's definitely "This, I think, is to tell you you're chosen out from the rest."

To me, this song is about any form of love where you're struggling with something, if that's being broken up, being away from each other, the feelings not being returned, etc. To me, I think of long distance relationships more though, they're closer to my heart. It doesn't have to be about a lover to me, though. It can be about anyone who is a way, friends, family, etc.

I like to think about how you're so far away, but the person you love is always in your head, and though you try to get on with every day activities, you just can't shake how much you miss them. 'My body moves, goes where I will, but though I try my heart stays still.'

To me, this song is just about missing people.

@HutcherJay I agree with your interpretation. My ex dedicated this song to me and that's what he was trying to say.

Exactly what it says on the tin! A reminisce about a past relationship that you haven't quite gotten over or forgot. "I think of you, I haven't slept, I think I do, but I don't forget" could be about those nights in bed when your mind just wont let you forget what you miss and what you thought you had forgotten.

"My body moves, Goes where I will, but though I try, my heart stays still, It never moves, Just won't be left, And so my mouth waters to be fed" may reflect a person moving on in a physical sense like going places and doing things but their heart still cant move on and you think about what you had and now wish you could feel like its there again i.e. When youre mouth waters at the thoughts of getting food you like.

And the closing line didn't really take much imagination haha!

The entire album was happening as Chris was breaking up with Gwyneth Paltrow, and he even admits that it influenced the recording. Chances are the pain was still incredibly raw with Chris and he's saying that she is obviously always in his thoughts. If you've ever been through a painful breakup, you know it takes a lot of time to get over it. You still wonder what the other person is doing, and how they're dealing with things too. This song doesn't require very much digging, the meaning is very much on the surface.
