Every Stone Lyrics

Well you might just miss the mark
If you’re keeping everyone away
You don’t mean to, you didn’t want to

Well it might just leave a mark,
If you don’t give anyone a say
You never want to, you never mean to

Every stone I’ve thrown has gone away,
It’s gone away, it’s gone away
Every stone I’ve thrown has gone away,
It’s gone away, it’s gone away

It’s the notion that it doesn’t matter even if we stay
And it’s overrated and manipulated

Nobody ever has to say, it makes me wonder who can wait
And it tests my patience cause it’s not worth waiting

Every stone I’ve thrown has gone away,
It’s gone away, it’s gone away
Every stone I’ve thrown has gone away,
It’s gone away, it’s gone away

Away, away

"Every stone i've thrown has gone away" is another way of saying he's burned some bridges in his life. Going by the overall flow of the song, he feels content with getting over these relationships because they were boring and unfulfilled. Probably eluding to his rockstar lifestyle and his basic friends and family back home. Even though he loves them, keeping a close relationship with these people would ultimately hinder his artistic potential. What do yall think?

It is possible that that is what Andy is talking about, though that would shine a negative light on him. The whole album, from what I can gather by reading/listening to interviews and listening to this song and Top Notch, is exploring the whole idea of coping; each song will explore different ways of coping with situation, whether it be good or bad.

I think the lyrics are: "Cause it's a notion that doesn’t matter even if we stay," instead of, "cause I know (shit) that it doesn’t matter even if we stay."
