Blue Moon Lyrics

I'm so tired of being alone
These penitent walls are all I've known
Songbird calling across the water
Inside my silent asylum

Oh don't leave me on my own
Left me standing all alone
Cut me down to size so I lack the faith inside
Lies that will divide us both in time

See the turncoat on his knees
A vagabond that no one sees
When a moon is throwing shadows
You can't save the ones you've caught in battle

Oh don't leave me on my own
Left me standing all alone
Cut me down to size so I lack the faith inside
Lies you try to hide behind your eyes

Don't leave me on my own
Don't leave me on my own
So cut me down to size so I can fit inside
Lies that will divide us both in time

I think it's pretty self explanatory.

He's tired of being lonely. Doing nothing. Songbird's call symbolizes his lady friend or other people's happiness while he sits alone.

She's left and he's lonely. He wants her to change who he is so it can work. But he knows in time, he can't be the person she wants him to be.

He's praying/hoping something good will happen But is wandering through life lonely. He's so deep in his own thoughts that he can't change and can't be saved.

He ends with the same message. Wants someone to share life with but knows it won't work with her.

Man, what a beautiful song. I think the meaning is obvious.

This whole album is just absolutely breathtaking. A tad on the depressing side, however, but in a good way.

The lyric should be "You can't save the ones you've FOUGHT in battle."
